MOUTOA MAIL SERVICE.

Mr John Stevens, M.H.R., has received a letter from the Hon. the Acting-Postmaster General informing him that in response to a request made by a deputation of Moutoa settlers consisting of Messrs Alex Saunders, W. S. Carter, A. Edwards and others, urging that better mail facilities should be affrded the Moutoa district, the department is prepared to grant a subsidy to the existing line of coaches running between Shannon and Foxton if satisfactory arrangements can be made, thus giving three mail services to Foxton by coach, instead of two as at present. The matter is now being dealt with by the postal authorities. Much credit is due to Mr Stevens for his endeavours to meet the wishes of he Moutoa settlers in this important matter, which will be greatly appreciated by our Moutoa neighbours.
