SAWMILLER'S CONFERENCE.
Meeting in Palmerston. [By our Special Reporter.! A meeting of members of the Amalgamated Association of Sawmillers and Timber Merchants was held at Palmerston yesterday. Mr R. N. Speirs was the Foxton representative. Mr’Jenssen presided, A discussion took place in regard to the Wellington timber merchants extending their boundaries in opposition to the Association. It was finally decided to hold a conference between representatives of the two bodies on April roth at Palmerston. It was decided to raise the price of all timber forwarded to Wellington is per 100 feet alround. The millers refused to make Wellington a closed district and asserted the right to supply timber to Wellington builders at 6d per hundred feet under the merchants prices. It was decided to make some recognition of Mr Jenssen’s good services during the past fifteen years, at the next conference.
