OBITUARY.

Samnei Saveli—aged 68 years. Another Foxton resident of 20 years standing, in the person of Samuel Saveli, passed away at his residence, at about a quarter to nine o’clock last night. His death came as a great surprise as he was apparently well during the day, and had not complained of feeling unwell. Deceased was very well known locally. As a lad he was apprenticed to his father in London as awaterman. Forty-years ago he came out to the colony. After spending a short time in Lyttelton, Timaru, Nelson, Taranaki, and Wellington he settled in this district, residing part of the time in Palmerston. His wife pre-deceased him 13 years ago. At the latter end of last year he underwent treatment in the district hospital at Palmerston, but very little hope was held out for him. The immediate cause of death was heart disease. He leaves the following sons and daughters to mourn their loss: —Mr S. T. Saveli (Foxton), Mrs Reece Baker (Pohangina), Mrs Maunsell (Feilding), Mr F. W. Saveli (Pohangina), Mrs Desmond (Oroua Bridge) Mrs Harkness (Pohangina), Mrs Sullivan (Foxton), and Messrs A. L, and E. S. Saveli (Foxton). The body will leave by Monday morning’s train for the Palmerston Cemetery.
