GOOD ADVICE.
Speaking of the coming municipal election at Feilding, the Star says inter alia;—“ln' too many cases public bodies have been allowed to get into the hands of men who are not capable, either from the lack of sanity of judgment, or because of narrow-mindedness and prejud.ee, of lulfilling the duties appertaining to their office. . . Of course, it is well understood that men who give their time and abilities to the service of the community are seldom thanked — rather, they, are too often censured and criticised, and discouraged by lack of appreciation ; but there is something better than public acknowledgement of efforts for advancing the interests of the community. Thus work, like virtue! is its own reward.” The Star concludes by advising ratepayers to see that they hand the control of their borough business to those who really possess a degree of public spirit, and a capacity of mind which is always an essential in the conduct ot every institution which has the general welfare and prosperity of the district in its hands.
