LARRIKINISM.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—-I wish to bring under the notice of the public, through your columns, the blackguardly conduct of a Set of hoodlums who made the night hideous recently with their, foul language and horse play, in Coley St. Not content with bawling out disgusting epithets they resorted to pulling the palings off a picket fence in front of a resident’s house, the owner of which is lying in a hospital. I hope that if in future these young bloods attend jollifications, the police will keep them under surveillence, and if need be, give them a few hours in the cells. Thanking you in anticipation.—Yours etc,, Coley St. Resident.

[to the editor.]

Sir,—Answering the effusion of Mr W. Knapp in your issue of Tuesday, sthinst., allow me before quoting the Borough by-laws, to make a brief explanation, Mr W. Knapp has in his household, inhabitants from 11 to 13 people ; his account being over due, I applied to him for payment for two months’ service. I intend to have my remedy through legal course. To make the matter clear for the benefit of Mr Knapp and the rest of the ratepayers, I quote the Borough by-laws (which, by the way, can be obtained at the Borough Council office)“ No*. 91 —The occupier of every dwelling house' in the Borough shall provide and maintain in the privy used by the inmates of such dwelling house an iron or such pail fit for the receptacle of night soil, of a capacity of approximately five gallons. No. 2 —That every such removal the occupiers for the time being of such dwelling house shall pay to the contractor or contractors for the time being the sum of 6d,” Thanking you for space in anticipation.—Yours etc., W. G. Tozer.
