MONTHLY MEETING,

Wanoanui, This Day,

Tlie ordinary meeting of tlie above was held last night. Present—Messrs P. Pirani (Chairman), Bennett, Carson, Dixon, Fraser, Guthrie, Purnell, and Smith.

Mr J. Ailken, headmaster of the Wanganui District High School, was highly censured by the Board for his action in taking infants into his school against the instructions of the Board, and he was given a fortnight in which to comply with the Board’s wishes.

The following resignations were received : L. M. Mahoney, Queen’s Park ; 0. Riseher, Taihape ; A. Small, relieving teacher; E. Ewing, Mosstown, J. Mclntyre, Aramoho; E. J. Pamerson, Kaheke; H. Law. To Roti.

Leave of absence was grantced A.. Chorlton, Eltham ; J. Law, Manaia-, M. McDonald, Makirikiri ; D. M. Eockell, Lingion; A. McDonald, Marton ; A. M. Carson, Feilding. The Board approved of the Chairman’s action in dismissing- E. Treharne, teacher at Hinau, for improper language in the school. ~ ■ ■ d

J. Aitkcn’s action in;:writing to. the press was strongly disapproved by the Board. :

It was resolved to grant £SO for the equipment of the Technical School at Wanganui and to make an application for £2OO for the establishment, of a laboratory. It was reported that £2500 was'Available for building a technical school at Feilding in brick.

The tender of F. Ward. £355, was accepted for the erection of a teacher’s residence at Foxton. ‘ It was decided to instal an electric light in the teacher’s residence at Patea at a cost of £l2.

The Ohingaiti school was closed for two weeks owing to measles.

It was resolved on the motion of Mr Fraser that the Board complete the purchase of a school site at Himatangi from Mr Duncan and apply to the Government for the erection of a school there.

Feilding to he told the Board has no funds for tennis court.
