SLAUGHTERMEN ON STRIKE.
Wellington, Yesterday,
The slaughtermen’s strike continues. At a meeting last night the men decided that as the companies had refused to increase their offer from 22s 6d to 235, they (the men) would revert to their old demand and refuse to work under 255. It now transpires that the companies were prepared to pay 23s tor| freezers and a slightly lower rate for others, but this offer does hot appear to have reached the men until too late last night. Hopes of settlement are intertained.
