TRIAL OF HARRY THAW.

New Yoek, Peb. 5

The case for the prosecution has closed in the trial of Harry Thaw for the murder of Stanford White.

Mr Gleason, counsel for the defence, pleaded hereditary insanity, declaring that Thaw acted without malice, in self-defence, believing that threats had been made against him by White.

The speech concluded with an ap. peal to the jury to say whether, considering the stress caused by sense of wrong and the prisoner’s hereditary taint, they would not have done the same had they been in Thaw’s position.
