FOXTON SANATORIUM.

Writing of the Sanatorium at the beach Mr Geo. Nye says that the Marine Dept, granted, through the Minister of Lands, about 8J acres of beach for the purpose and also granted £SO for sowing sand-binding grass and shrubs, which was expended. A further grant of from £25 to £3O was made by the Marine Dept, to fence a portion of the land thus set apart. Nothing has since been done. Mr Nye opines that the whole of the land set apart has been taken up and applications hare been made from time to time for more sites. He says the time has arrived when the Marine Dept, should be approahed for an extension of area and a further sum for planting. If this was acceded to it would improve the pilot station reserve which consists of drift sand. Mr Nye concludes by stating that the beach is coming into favour as a popular health resort — several hundreds visited it this season from inland towns. Mr Nye hopes the Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce will continue to give the matter their attention.
