MEIKLE COMMISSION.

WEWNGTON, Yesterday. When the Meikle Commission resumed to-day a discussion took place as to whether ft would be necessary to call Mr McNab, Minister for Lands. Eventually counsel for Meikle admitted as correct ' a letter setting out the terms upon which the grant of £SOO was made by the Government to Meikle, on Mr McNab’s solicitation, Meikle undertaking that it a grant were made he would not trouble the Government again. Counsel contended that it was a private undertaking, and in no way binding on Meikle. Counsel for the Crown submitted that on receiving the money Meikle signed a discharge ia full 'j'- of all claims against the colony.
