MR DEVLIN’S LECTURE.
Mr Devlin, M.P., will lecture in the Zealandia Hall, Palmerston N. to-morrow night on the subject of Home Rule,: Mr Devlin is spoken of by the Australian papers a.s being a more brilliant orator than any man in the Commonwealth. The New Zealand papers published in the South Island where he has already spoken are also loud in their * praises of his oratorical powers, and the Premier, Sir Joseph Ward, at meeting de- ■ scribed Mr DevlifTs speech as an Intellectual treat. The Envoy’s logic must be good, for he has succeeded in convincing several newspapers in the South Island. These newspapers have, since hearing his speech, published leading articles in favour of Home Rule, a. thing ydxich they had not done before. Besides stating Ireland’s case to the public of New Zealand, Mr Devlin is raising as much money aS possible for the Irish Parliameutary fund. This is necessary to continue the struggle at Home because the members of Parliament there are not paid like the members of the New Zealand Parliament. To-morrow evening the people district will have an opportunity which seldom occurs of hearing this burning question ytreated by an; accomplished orator Parliament.
