METHODIST SALE OF WORK.
The above was held in the Methodist Schoolroom yesterday afternoon and evening and was well attended—especially at night, the room being full. A brisk business was done at the stalls and Christmas tree and lollie stalk The refreshment room and brantubs were very well patronised. A special attraction, delegating character by handwriting by Professor Hugo was a great success. The following presided over the various stalls: —B'ancy goods, Mesdames Walker, Austin; and Southern; Lollie stall, Mrs McLean, Misses M. and V, Walker; Christmas Tree, Misses Carter and Speirs; Refreshment stall, Misses Austin (2); Handwriting, Miss Walker ; Bran-tub, Misses Honore and Bullard ; Competitions, Mr Stiles, assisted by a willing staff of ladies and gentlemen; Shooting gallery, Mr E. Walker. It has been decided to continue the sale of work this evening in order to dispose of the balance of goods. Sale will open at 8 o’clock, admission free. We understand that the takings last night amounted to about £25, and the lady members ~pf the church are to be commended for the success which attended their self-sacrificing efforts.
