LAWN TENNIS.

Speaking of the recent lawn tennis match Otaki v. Foxton, the Otaki Mail says:—“ The Foxton courts are in fair order, but have one or two serious drawbacks, the principal one being that the back line is on the extreme end of the asphalt, thus allowing no runback. To return a back liner, one had to run down a hollow among long grass, which greatly disconcerted several of the Otaki players. The Foxton men did not appear to relish the net play of the visitors. The ladies’ double was a very hollow thing for Otaki, pisses Wanklyn and Austin only securing one game against Misses Aitkeh and Simcox, while the Otaki ladies won both their singles with ease, their opponents being rather nervous and unsteady.
