Opening of the Season.^,
The cricket season was auspiciously opened at Victoria Park yesterday afternoon, when the local Debaters Club defeated Foxtou and Moutoa Clubs’ combined in a one innings match by 44 runs to 30. Messrs Bennett and Rimmer acted as umpires. During the afternoon, afternoon tea was dispensed by Misses Wanklyn (2), Carter, and Mesdames 0. Austin, Carter, and Whibley, while othe;s who forwarded refreshments included Misses Austin (2), Fraser, and Mesdames Frankland 'and Reeve.
