GREAT MUSICAL EVENT.
Te Rang! Pai.
The only concert to be given here by Te Rangi Pai takes place to-night at the Public Hall, and should prove the musical event of the year. Few communities are accorded the privilege of welcoming one of their own county, who has attained such high rank in the musical world as Te Rangi Pai, whose return to New Zealand, after an absence of seven years, is an event of no small importance. The career of this talented songstress has been followed with interest by many in our midst. Tutored by the great Santley, the world’s foremost baritone, and by that eminent master of oratorio, Dr Churchill Sibley, of London, Te Rangi Pai, whose magnificent contralto voice made her such a warm favourite with New Zealand audiences prior to her departure, rapidly acquired the culture and artistic finish that are essential to success in that most critical of musical centres, London, where out of the many thousands who aspire to fame, so few rise to the top. Te Rangi Pai will be supported by the brilliant soprano, Miss Tatton, together with Mr Handley Wells, the young English baritone ; and Mr Horace Hunt, a brilliant pianiste. The advance booking of seats constitutes a local record, and a crowded audience is assured.
