Dreams of a live of happiness in the New World with a husband who came up to her ideals were (says the Quebec “Daily Telegraph ”) rudely shattered when Anna Macki. a young Finnish girl, saw a Duluth man in Canada, who had represented himself in a Finnish newspaper, by means of a skillfully worded ‘ ‘ Wife Wanted ” advertisement, to be “ single, sober, industrious, and good-looking.” Visions of the life beyond the sea cheered the light-haired girl and brightened her blue eyes on the lonely journey across the seas. These dreams were shattered by one look at the man she had come 4000 miles to marry, and brought tears of bitter disappointment to her eyes, for August Dagerman, the groom-to-be, the police declare, sometimes takes a drink, is a widower, and possesses not enough manly beauty to recommend him as a matriraoniai catch. He has been shipped out of town by the police.
