A sub-com-mittee was appointed to wait upon the hotels of Christchurch and suburbs, to ask their co-operation with the Official Bureau in housing the visitors. With hardly .an exception a cheerful consent and all particulars as to prices, number of rooms, being registered and signed. Seeing 'that all articles of food will rise in. price, extra labour wohld be higher, and numerous ■other things all tending to make cost of living much higher, the hotels are' most leasonablein their charge, which sets at rest once for all the mischievous and erroneous statements which have been in circulation in regard to exorbitant hotel and accommodation house charges during the exhibition peiiod. The following is a list 01 the prices to be charged : Bed and breakfast, per week, fron 15/- up. Full board, per week, from 25/-up. HOTELS. Hotels from 30/- per week for board and lodging. Even at the best hotels board and lodging can be had at 15/- per day. The accommodation available is sufficient to accommodate 113, 000 people, and placing the number of people who will stay with their friends at' 4,000 we have a grand total of accommodation for 17,000 people. Messrs Mr yes and Eangdown, of the Official Bureau, are now fully equipped to deal with the influx of visitors and have a very excellent system at work so that all people [desirous of getting board and residence can obtain the fullest information and addict what price they would like to pay. — 1 am etc., (Sgd.)
