THE OAMARU MURDER.

Further Developments Oamaru, October. 4. Further developments in connection with the Rennie mystery seem to indicate that the weapon used was one having a '303 calibre. There was a bullet wound in the right temple and two at the base of the skull. The post mortem resulted in the extraction of several pieces of lead from the skull, and also located other bullet wounds on the chest. The affair which has caused great excitement, is still shrouded in mystery. An inquest is being held this afternoon. Fater. In connection with the murder of W. H. Rennie, schoolmaster, at Papakaio, the iuquefst was opened to-day, but only three witnesses were taken. The evidence of Dr Whitton was to the effect that only one shot had been fired, and the bullet had ,1 splintered in the head. Most of the pieces had been recovered. To all ..appearances Rennie had been shot while asleep, and to witness it did not seem possible, under the ci r cumstances, to be a case of su : cide. The other evidence was unimportant. It is now evident that the person who committed the deed forced his way into the house by the window, and made his exit by the door. There are marks on the window of the catch having been forced back. The inquest was adjourned for a fortnight.
