FOXTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The ordinary montlhy meeting of the Foxton School Committee was held in the new Council Chambers last evening. Present— Messrs A. D. Clemett (chair) L. W. Wilson (see.), F. W. Frankland, R. T. Betty, G. Gray, G. Coley, H. Austin and C. Barnard. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The headmaster’s report was read and adopted. Correspondence was received from the Education Board asking if the Committee is willing to accept Miss Small’s appointment to the iFoxton School. — Proposed by F. 'W. Frankland and seconded by E. Wilson that Miss Small’s appointment be accepted. Accounts amounting to £1 18s 4d were passed for payment. Re Mr Stevens’ prizes for competition, on farm work for boys and domestic work for girls, it was decided that the Heralp be approached in the matter of publishing full conditions. The Inspector’s report on examinations was read. Tetter from the Education Board with reference to establishing a technical school in Foxton. —Decided that the Chairman invite the Mayor to call a public meeting at a convenient date to discuss the question of technical education. The meeting then rose.
FOXTON CRICKET CLUB. ; The annual meeting of the Fox- i ton Cricket Club was held in Mr 1 M. Perreau’s rooms last evening, Mr E. E. Reade being voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the balance sheet showing a small credit submitted, was read and adopted. Several new members were elected. Following were the officers elected: Patron, Mr F. W. Frankland; president, Mr W. S. Stewart; vice-president, Messrs O. Robinson, H. Austin, and A. Shadbolt, senr, ; captain, W. Nye; vice-captain, F. Whibley ; secretary and treasurer, A. Imrie; committee, E. Wanklyn, M. H. Walker, E. Reade, A. Reeve, and Gardner; delegates, Messrs Reade and Nye. The subscriptions arranged were; —ss over 18 years, 2s 6d under 18 years, schoolboys free of charge. The secretary was instructed to write to the Moutoa and .Debating clubs requesting a conference of delegates on associational matters. A vote of thanks to the chair and to Mr Perreau for the use of room concluded the meeting. S
