FOXTON RIFLE CLUB.
A meeting of the above was held in Mr Gray’s Hotel on Tuesday evening last. Mr A. S. Walsh was voted to the _ chair. It was decided that Mr J. Gillespie had secured a “leg in” for the Montoa Estate Cup. A letter was received from Mr W. J- Crowther, of Bulls, stating that at a meeting of delegates from various rifle dubs and volunteer corps held at Marton on Sept. 7th the suggestion of establishing a union on similar lines to those governing football and other branches of sport, was very favorably received. The writer asked for an expression of opinion from the Foxton club re drawing up fixtures and competitions. The Secretary was instructed to notify Mr Crowther that the Foxton Iclub is in accord with the suggestion. Messrs R. Newth and W. Rimmer were elected members of the club. It was resolved that the fourth competition be altered from 5,6, and 700yds, to 2,5, and 600yds. The handicaps for which will be declared on Saturday 29th inst., the competition to close on October 14th. The Sec retary was authorised to procure a Champion Eever Bock, and the usual votes of thanks concluded the meeting.
