FOXTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A special meeting of the Foxton School Committee was held in the new Borough Chambers last evening. Present —Messrs A. D. Clemett (chair), L. W. Wilson (secretary), C. Barnard, H. Austin, F. W. Frankland, Geo. Gray, Geo. Coley and R. T. Betty. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Accounts to the amount of 12s were passed for payment. The selection of teachers for the ensuing year was then discussed. Touching the appointment of a teacher to fulfil Miss McDonough’s position as second female assistant, it was proposed by H. Austin and seconded by F. W. Frankland that Miss Wanklyn’s claim receive special attention as she has proved her capabilities during last year. Proposed by F. W. Frankland and seconded by R. J. Betty that the applications of Miss Wanklyn and Miss Small be accepted with a recommendation to the effect that Miss Wanklyn be given preference. Proposed by Mr Gray and seconded by Mr G. Coley as an amendment that Miss Tew and Miss Alcorn be selected. Messrs H. Austin, F. W. Frankland, R. J. Betty and L. W. Wilson supported the resolution and Messrs Geo. Gray and Geo Coley the amendment. The proposal was carried. 1 rososed by Mr Geo. Gray and seconded by Mr Wisson that the Borough Council be approached by the Committee re the use of the Council Chambers for its meetings. —Carried. Proposed by Mr G. Coley and seconded by Mr Betty that the windows of room in old school used by Miss Duff’s technical class be attended to, also that the room be set in order. —Carried. The meeting then rose.
