SUNDAY TENNIS.
The local tennis club has decided that playing on the local court on Sundays shall be strictly prohibited. Its a pity that other clubs of a similar nature do not follow the same example. The pastime may be harmless but surely the State provides us with sufficient holidays without break ng in upon the sanctity of the Sabbath. In a Christian country, where our people are provided with ample time during the week for healthy physical recreation, there is ' no excuse for offending the religious susceptibilities of the church folk, by introducing the thin edge of the hateful continental Sunday. We commend the club for its action. , If devotees of the game feel that they would like to indulge in the game on tais day, why not fix up a court somewhere among the sandhills, where they will be out of earshot and sight by the general public.
