Euchre Party and Dance.
A brilliant success. The euchre party and dance organised by lady members of the Foxton Lawn Tennis Club as a means of raising funds for the Club eventuated at the Masonic Hall last evening, and was undoubtedly a brilliant success, both socially and financially, which must be pleasing to those members of the fair sex who rendered such gratuitious support to the affair. " Amongst those _ present were numerous visitors, including a large quota from Shannon. Euchre was indulged in till shortly after 10 o’clock, after which an appetising and tasty was handed round by an enthusiastic committee of ladies. Then the floor was cleared for dancing, which fascinating pastime was ipdulged in with much heartiness by those present, the music being supplied by Misses Furrie, Marie Alzdorf, Haywood, May Laing, Mesdaraes Cleraett, C. and J. Robinson, and Mr Berthold. Mr G. W. Morgan (secretary of the Tennis Club) acted as M.C. Miss Hamer won the first prize among the ladies at euchre, and Mr H. Austin the gent’s prize. The booby prizes were won by Mrs Hamer and Mr S. Easton, The ladies who deserve a special word of praise for having brought the affair to such a successful issue include ; Misses Austin (2), Symons, Laing, Wanklyn, P. Fraser, McMillan, and Mesdames C. Robinson, McMillan, Barnard, Stewart, and O. Austin. Other ladies assisted in providing card tables and supper, to whom the committee return their thanks.
