Opening of New School.

AT GLEN OEOUA. A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The opening ceremony of the new school at Glen Oroua took place yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance. Mr F. Pirani, chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, per- , formed the opening ceremony. Other members of the Board present were Misers Bennett, Fraser, and Purnell, JMMr Braik, chief Inspector, ▼ Jo new building is capable of accommodating 80 scholars and the appointments are up-to-date. After the opening ceremony th« members of the Board and those present partook of afternoon tea provided by the settlers in the hall. Speeches vm.ro made by the Board members and inspectors. It was pointed out that the school held a record for the district, in attend ance. Out of a roll number of 57, 50 had gained attendance certificates, 27 of which hung on the walls of the eoridor. Mrs Williams, the head teacher, was eulogised for the good work of the pupils and a most enjoyable time was spent.
