THF F. A. COLFY CUP,

AFBIONS (15) v. HUIA (5)

At the racecourse yesterday Albions fairly romped over Huia by x sto 3. The former team showed great combination and form, in fact must be the best conditioned team in the Union, while the Huia backs gave a poor exhibition. They lacked both knowledge and condition. Young Ken Furrie gained distinction by piling on 12 of the 15 points —two tries and two converted penalties—the other score being registered by C. Edwards, perhaps the best allround junior player seen out this season. What the Huia backs were doing to allow Furrie to score either of his tries is best known to themselves. They must have been asleep, as he had clear openings left for him in both tries. Of the winners, all showed good form. Whibley should make a back, but don’t wait for the bounce; take the ball on the full. Walker, Cook, Furrie, Williams, Klein, Webb, Edwards and others all worked hard. Howan should not take the risks he dees with his He may find himself in difficulties if he boots without occasion.

As to Huia, one or two of these players showed a distinct inclination to play rough, and would ao well to discontinue these tactics. Davis, Pony Saville, Ashton Napier, and the curly-headed Maori were the pick of their number, but the team generally lacked knowledge and condition. In the second spell one of their number scored a try, which was converted. Mr Sutherland refereed, whilst Messrs A. Imrie and D. Tatana held the line-flags. ■

NOTES
