Explosions at Nathan's Dried Milk Factory.
THE BUIEDING DAMAGED BY DYNAMITERS. Between two and three o’clock on Sunday morning last a couple of loud explosions were heard by the neighbourhood of Bunnythorpe. 4£phese explosions turned out to be from Nathan’s dried milk factory, which is now in course of re-erection after destruction by fire some months ago. The wilful explosions did considerable damage to machinery, and it is difficult to guage the correct loss. All the windows in the factory were blown out. _ The brickwork of boiler,, boiler itself, engine and other costly machinery were damaged considerably. However, the manager, Mr Merrett, hopes to have everything in readiness to start again in about three weeks time.
There was no insurance, though negotiations were in progress foi insuring. Mr Body, a resident near th« factory, said he saw a gig with lights burning coming from the direction of the factory shortly after the explosion. He could not distinguish the number of occu* pants of the gig, but they were travelling at a smart rate towards Feilding. Detective Quirke is at present investigating the matter. j» - ‘ 7"
