Embezzlement.
Christchurch, June 3. Henry Deacon Raynor secretary to the District Grand Lodge of Druids, was committed for trial at the Supreme Court on several charges of embezzling moneys, the property of the Order, amounting in all to £495. Accused was brought back from Australia on June 22nd on an extradition warrant.
Napier, Junes
George White, charged with misappropriating funds of the Starr-Bowkett Building Society, was further remanded for a week, investigations into the Society’s affairs not being completed. White has been adjudged bankrupt on creditors’ petition. His statement shows liabilities £13,947, assets £12,626, unsecured creditors £2759, secured £11,091 ; estimated value of securities £12,261.
