Reynold’s Newspaper says 1,200 waiters, cooks and barmaids were to have been employed, while 120.000 cups and saucers and 240.000 glasses were utilised. The eatables included : —70,000 slices of bread and butter, 30,000 slices of cake, 1,250 81b sandwich loaves, i3,oooscones, 10,000 buns, 1000 51b loaves, 20,000 pats of butter, 3000 pork pies, 3600 steaks, 75 loins of mutton for chops, 12,000 pounds of potatoes, 860 gallons of milk, 1000 cabbages and cauliflowers, 250 fowls. The chief run is-generally on sandwiches, tea, and bread and butter, but many thousands sit down to a heavier meal after the game is over, the greatest demand being for chops and steaks.
