Sir Nigel.

“ Sir Nigel ” is a novel written on broad national lines, in the style of the “White Company,” but more in the main current of the English life of those days. It pictures the lives of the people, of the clergy, and of the Court. It follows" the English Armies to France, deals with the naval warfare of that period and includes within its scope such well-known historical episodes as the surprise of Calais Castle, the Battle with the Spaniards off Winchelsea, the Duel of the Thirty in Brittany, and finally, the battle of Poictiers. It is the longest and most ambitious work which Sir A. Conan Doyle has attempted. It will be published in the autumn in George Bell and Sons' well-known “Indian and Colonial Library,” in paper and cloth covers.
