Cadet Officers Censured
New Plymouth, June 2
At a recent Taranaki cadet battalion camp, visited by the Hon. C. H. Mills, on a Sunday, some of the lads danced a portion of a baba of welcome. The Education Hoard took the matter un, and censured the officer commanding for allowing it, also for having toast-drinking in the officers’ mess after “lights out.”
At the meeting of the battalion officers to-day all handed in their resignations, also pointing out that the officers! werq, not under the control of tqe board ; that no investigation bad been held into the alleged misconduct, and that the officer • commanding was condemned without being asked for an explanation. The resolutions are to be sent to the Education Department.
The action ol the board is keenly resented in all quarters, the cadet movement having caught on well in Taranaki.
