Masonic Installation Service.

The installation of the W. M. and officers of the Lodge Awahou, No 133 N.Z., took place on Friday night when a large number of Masons from different parts of the district attended the Foxton Lodgeßoom. The ceremony of installing Bro. W. Stewart as Master of the Lodge for the ensuing 12 months was mostly performed by the P.G. Master, Bro. R. B. Williams. Bro, Fletcher, the newly appointed District Grand Superintendent installed the different officers equal and made a most favourable im- . pression on his first appearance iu "his new office with the Brethren. Bro. P.M. Inder acted as a most efficient Director of Ceremonies whilst Brothers P.M. Nash and Grove (Manawatu Kilwinning) and Roe ’(Horowhenua), presented the working tools of the respective degrees. Sacred solos were sung by Messrs Bennett and Bett (M. Kilwinning.) * The following officers in addition to the W.M, were installed. Bro. Fraser 1.P.M., Bro. Clemett, D.M., Bro. Barnard S.W., Bro. Healey J.W., Bro. Currie S.D., Bro. C. Hood Jr. J.D. Secretary, Bro. P.M. Haywood Treasurer, Bro. Walker, Bro. Wilson, J.G., Bros. C. Hood Senr. and Noonan Stewards, Bro. Stiles organist, Bro. Bullard Chaplain and Bro. Johansen Tyler. Before the Grand Lodge retired the P.G.M. Bro. Williams, on behalf of- the Te Awahou Lodge, presented Bro. P.M. Fraser with a handsome Masters’ Jewel as a token of their appreciation of the work done by him during the past twelvemonths which was suitably acknowledged. A banquet was held in the social hall at the conclusion, and the Brethren fell to with a zest to the good things provided for them by Bro. Perreau. The new Master, Bro. Stewart, presided, and after the Brothers’ appetites were duly satisfied the toast list was proceeded with, interspersed by songs and recitation. The following were the toasts The King and the Craft by the W.M. The Grand Lodge of New Zealand by Bro. P.M. Clemett, responded to by Bro. Williams, P.G.M. The Installing Master by Bro. P.M. Fraser, responded to by Bros. Williams and Fletcher. The Worshipful Master by P.M. Bro. Nash who specially expressed his pleasure at having this toast entrusted to him he having been a pupil of Bro. Stewart. The latter iu reply thanked one and all for the kind things said of him and hoped he would not suffer from that abominable complaint known as “ swelled head,” Sister Lodges and visiting Brethren by P.M. Brother Haywood, responded by several W.Ms. of the Dodges present. Songs were excellently given by Bros. Beiinett, Bett and Nash, the three finishing with a most harmonious trio, whilst effective recitations were given by Bros. Simmons and Lorensen, the latter fairly bringing the house down with his recital “ Murphy shall not sing to night.” In the absence of the Tyler the concluding toast To all poor and distressed Masons was entrusted to Mr Clemett which was drunk in solemn silence. The Brethren then formed a ring and concluded a most enjoyable evening,s entertainment with two verses of Auld Lang Syne.
