SPECIAL, MEETING

A special meeting of the Foxton School Committee was held at the Council Chambers on Thursday evening, there being present —Mesdaraes Haywood and Frankland, Messrs S. H. Baker (chairman), Barnard, Grav, and Frankland (secretary). Mr Gray apologised for the absence of Mr Geo. Coley, and the secretary for Mr Wilson.

Two applications for the position of first assistant at Foxton School were received, and the Committee approved of Mr Gordon, from Feilding. Mr H. Coley and his son were in attendance in connection with a complaint lodged against the headmaster.

There was considerable discussion over the matter, and it was eventually decided, on the motion of Mr Baker, seconded by Mr Frankland, “ That this committee regrets the circumstances in regard to the suspension of MrH. Coley’s boy and thinks it would have been wiser had the head-master warned the father of the boy as to the latter’s misconduct be f ore taking the step of suspending him, and the Committee further desires that Robert Coley apologise to the headmaster and be received back to the school.”

The Chairman, Mrs Frankland, and Messrs Barnard and Frankland were appointed a sub-com-mittee to arrange about the school sports and breaking up for Easter.
