Sydney, April 7. Two hundred and fifty guineas have been subscribed in Sydney for the Courrieres disaster fund. The lists have been closed. Dr Danysz leaves Paris for Australia shortly. It is proposed to place cattle and sheep on an island where he conducts his experiments for rabbit extermination.
Melbourne, April 7, The office of the Eastern Extension Co., remains open despite the authorities’ order to close it. The matter will be one for legal determination. The secretary of
the Postal Department traverses the Company’s contention that it is the public who suffer by the •dosing, and affirms that the Coy. proposed the pooling arrangement with the Pacific Cable Coy. in order that they might close the Melbourne and Sydney offices and give up special land lines, thus saving yearly. The manager of the Eastern Extension Co. replied that it was the Pacific Coy. who first suggested the pooling.

The Admiral has sent seven cruisers to sink the derelict steamer Dunmore, which is drifting in the track Of Trans-atlantic liners.
