French Mining Disaster.

ANOTHER SURVIVOR.

i Paris, April 5, j Berton, a miner, has just been ' rescued from the Courrieres pit, where a terrible explosion occurred on March 10th. He was taken from the 331 metre level. Berton was found to be in fair health, and was able to walk. He had suffered less than the thirteen survivors rescued four days previously. He joked when brought to the surface. He thought he bad been entombed for only a week. Berton had lived on coffee, brandy, and a little water and bread he found on the bodies of the dead in the pit. He suffered terribly from the cold, though he wrapped himself in clothes removed from the dead bodies. He tried to find an.axe with which to commit suicide, but was not successful. Having abandoned hope, he wandered about the mine, but discovered no one alive. Crowds of women at the mouth

of the Courrieres pit menace the engineers, accusing them of cowardice.
