The Late Mr J. F. Overend.
THE FUNERAL.
The popularity of the late Mr J. Overend was plainly evidenced yesterday, when one of the largest funerals ever known in Foxton followed the remains of our late respected townsman to their last resting place. Included in those present were a large number of the Masonic Order, besides visitors from all parts of the district. Numerous relatives of deceased from other parts also attended. The body was taken to the All Saints Ghnrch, and service conducted by the Rev. Mr Wilson, after which the impressive spiritual rites were conducted at the graveside by the same rev. gentleman. The Masonic service at the graveside was conducted by Bro. Alf, Fraser.
Many beautiful wreaths were forwarded as tributes of respect, including those from Levin and Co., Ltd., Levin and Co.s staff, Hickson and Reeve, Foxton Racing Club, Queen of the South, and numerous others.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr A. Jonson, undertaker.
Messrs Pearce, of Wellington (dn?C‘ or), Signal! (engineer), and Morgan (Foxton manager), represented Levin and Co., Ltd., at the funeral.
