Charge Against Mr Crick.

“NOT GUILTY.”

Sydney, March 22

The trial of Mr W. P. Crick on a charge of corruption came to a sudden and sensational termination in the Criminal Court.

The charge was that Crick, as Minister of Lands, unlawfully and corruptly received for his own benefit ,£250 from Peter Close in connection with a certain land transfer.

Mr Shand, who acted as one of Close’s legal advisers during the Land Commission Enquiry, lead for the Crown, and Mr G. H. Reid for the defence. The Court was crowded.

After hearing evidence, the jury by direction of the judge returned a verdict of “ not guilty.”
