THE REVOLT CRUSHED,

London, March 17.

The Daily Mail has received despatches from Zungerf, as follows :

“Captain Goodwyn, of the Royal Artillery, attacked the Sokoto rebels. The natives twice charged the British square and were almost annihilated.

“ Subsequently the British advanced on Satiru which was strongly held. It was bombarded and taken at the point of the bayonet. Great slaughter took olace, the enemy fighting desperately and standing up to the troops’ charges. • They were finally expelled and pursued by mounted men. “Three hundred of the enemy were killed including the leader. •'The entire revolt is crushed and the loyal chiefs are co-operat-ing in the pursuit. ’ ’ THE RECENT BATTLE. ' London, March xB. Upwards of a thousand Nandis were killed during a drive in the Nigeria campaign. The rebel natives defeated at Sateru numbered two thousand and were entrenched. Captain Godwin commanded five hundred men with a Maxim gun. The Munchi tribe has submitted.
