A Chisel.
Jk, Wellington, March 19. A murderous assault was made Upon Samuel Gilmer, licensee of the Royal Oak Hotel, by Francis Waddell, a ship’s fireman, at the residence of Mr John Hamilton, in Marion-street, about 11 o’clock - this morning. Waddell entered the house, brandishing a chisel, and called to the housekeeper, “Now I’ve, got you. Now I’ll do for you.” "Gihuer rushed out and closed with him. A rough and tumble ensued, and eventually Waddell was overpowered and arrested. Gilmer was cut on the hand and face with the chisel.
