WELLINGTON REPS v. MELBOURNE C.C.
In their match against Melbourne C.C., Wellington made 124 in their first innings. Melbourne’s first effort totted up to 330. Wellington made 313 in their second innings, and Melbourne got the required number to win in their second attempt just on call of time, with the loss of three wickeds, thus winning by 7 wickets.
PALMERSTON v. FOXTON. A match was played last Saturday afternoon at Palmerston between the above clubs, resulting in a win for Palmerston by ten wickets. Foxton made 32 in their first attempt, Manawatu making 128. In their second essay Foxton made 104, Manawatu thus requiring only 9to win. The necessary runs were compiled without the loss of a wicket. The best score in the match was that of Stewart, sen., with 56. The next man was Hewlett with 13. The meeting of the Foxton Cricket Association called for last evening fell through for want of a quorum. The following team will represent Foxton against Debaters in match to be re-played to-morrow: Messrs Morgan (2), Overend, Imrie, Furrie (2), Cunningnam, Nye, Martin, Frank Whibley, and F. Shadbolt. Emergencies : Fred. Whibley, C. Rand.
Debaters will be represented by the following in their match tomorrow : Whitehouse, Betty, Stiles, Wilson, Dunn, Spelman, Moore, Mainwaring, Eev. Featherston and Speirs.
