Foxton Borough Council.
SPECIAL The special meeting of the Foxton Borough Council held at the Borough Officers last night, was attended by—The Mayor (B, G. Gower, Esq.) Crs Gray, Coley, Austin, Shadbolt, Moore, Stiles, and Frankland.
THE MAIN STREET CULVERT. Council went into committee to deal with tenders for laying a concrete culvert in Main street. Five tenders in all were received, ranging in price from to £ 375, and after emerging from committee, it Was decided to accept the tender of E. J. Saunders G£375) to complete the work. The question of financing this culvert was faced, and Councillors generally were of opinion that a 3d rate for two years would meet the case. The work was necessary, and it would have to be proceeded with at once. EXTRAS. Mr I. J. hake wrote re payment of £lO for extras at the Avenue Culvert. After slight demur, it was decided, on the motion of Cr Stiles, seconded by Cr Moore, that the money be paid subject to the work being passed as satisfactory by the Public Works Committee. METAL. Cr Coley informed Council that the Borough Foreman wanted 200 yards of metal. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Coley, That tenders be called for carting 200 yards of metal, tenders to be in by next meeting. Carried. A REQUEST. Mr Jupp wrote for permission to grade the road near his new mill. On the motion of Cr Austin, seconded by Cr Gray, Mr Jupp’s request was agreed to.
