Manawatu Herald. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 1906. ADVANCE FOXTON!
We can authoritatively state that the establishment of rope-works in our midst is certain. Mr Ross, of Ross and Sons, came to town on Friday last, and during Saturday arrangements were completed to form a Limited Co., styled ‘ ‘ Ross and Sons, Limited,” whereby the erection of the works is to be gone on with immediately. We congratulate those who have directly interested themselves in the industry and trust they may be rewarded for their enterprise in finis endeavouring to advance Foxlon’s interests. Those connected with the company’s movements are ; Mrs H. Austin, Mesr.n; G. Stiles, W. Jupp, J. Brewer, A. Speirs, F. Easton, 0. E. Austin, H. Austin and G. Rough. Messrs Ross and Sons retain half - interest in the concern. The present works will be removed at once from Ahuriri (Napier) to Foxton, and the work of re-erection commence almost immediately, arrangements now being in progress for obtaining a suitable site. Besides the machinery in use at the old work::, much modern machinery will be introduced into the Foxton works, while increased driving power will be installed. It is intended to run the works both day and night, and we understand the affair will mean the employment of about 30 hands. It is expected the works will be in full swing about the month of May. We wish the venture the success it deserves.
