Serious Mishap.
FIVE BATTLESHIPS IN A TANGLE. New York, January 9. Five American battleships, on leaving New York Bay, got into a tangle, it is supposed owing to carelessness and excessive speed in the narrow fairway. The Kentucky and the Kearsage went aground. The Alabama collided with the Kentucky, both vessels being damaged. The Kentucky has been sent to Brooklyn for repairs. An inquiry into the mishap has been ordered.
