THE DAIRY INDUSTRY.

It’s the Beat Business In Which a Farmer Can Enfcnsvc. Dairying as a distiuct industry is one which contributes as much of real bene* : fit to a community as any that can be ; named. It is a business in which the j individual, independent farmer can en- ! gage, or a number can join in a coopcrai live enterprise. The poor man with but few acres, the renter and the widow with a family of small children to support, can with one or more cows make advantageous disposition on the farm of the ordinary crops of the small farm or garden patch, receiving in return from cows a perfect food for the family, and from the surplus, produce food articles of commercial value. Thus, while it is a business in which capital 1 can bo invested on a corapni’ativeiy large scale, using costly machinery and employing highly skilled labor and ; great executive ability, it can also be, i and to a very great extent is, one of j small individual investment, but aggre- | gating an enormous sum. And, dilrer--1 ing from almost any other line of labor, ! the small dairy man or woman can, with intelligence and inexpensive, rude appliances, produce an article which will equal in quality that produced from 1 he herds of 100 or more cows, or in co- , operative creameries.—Western Plowman.
