About thirty thousand spectators witnessed the match against Yorkshire. The New Zealanders made the pace warm from the start, tries being scored by Booth and Deans in quick succession. Hunter, a little later on, added a third. Wallace succeeded in converting the lost only. Before halftime, Deans twice more crossed the line, and Mynott got a sixth try.
