Montgomery’s Entertainers.
As usual, Montgomery’s entertainers drew a large audience at the Public Hall on Thursday night, when the programme presented Was quite in keeping with their high-class of entertainment. Since last here, Mr Montgomery has purchased an entirely new machine, which, in displaying the pictures on the screen, has done away with most of the flickering that used to be so noticeable. Many of the pictures placed before the audience last evening were new to Foxtonians, included in which were a few of the humourous tint. “ Who stole the pig,” “The Daring Bank Robbery,” 1 ' The Derby Winner, ” “ Climbing Mount Blanc,’, and “ The Life of Marionette,” were perhaps the pick of the bunch. Miss Hargood and Edmund Mont, gomery sang several ballads, illustrated by views, and certainly pleased the audience. Mr Ormonde Edwards was a tremendous success at comic business, and provided six items in all. ‘ ‘ Duty must be Done,” “ A Brown paper parcel,” and a ditty about ‘ ‘ Our Cat Jack, ’ ’ voked much laughter. Mr Montgomery has a particularly busy programme at Xmas time, providing entertainments at four different centres at the same time. On Christmas night he opens at Wellington Town Hall, at Masterton Town Hall he opens Boxing night, at Feilding Boxing night, whilst he is engaged at Wanganui during Carnival week.
