Train Accident.

Sydney, December 6,

Pearce, the fireman on the Maitland-Newcastle express, on which there was an escape of stegm through the partial bursting of a boiler, brought the train to a standstill by diming to the rear of the engine and- disconnecting the air tube. The driver was so badly scalded that he was unable to reach the lever Or air-brake. Both men were driven on to the foot-boards, and had to hang out as far as possible to escape the steam. The driver, despite his terrible plight managed to hang on.
