Alleged Fraud-

Sydney, December i

The arrest of a city solicitor and another man charged with attempting to clefrande a solicitor lamed Wilson of .£4O led to the Jisclosure of a sensational story. The arrests were made on the strength of a document placed in ;he hand of the police by Wilson. According to Wilson early in the year a retired sea captain made the acquaintance of a woman with whom lie became closely associated. A few months ago the captain died suddenly and shortly after his death the woman handed the captain’s well, under which she was left all his property amounting it is alleged to about .£20,000, to one of the arrestees. It was witnessed by a woman friend of the beneficiary in whose handwriting it was made out. At this stage a nephew of the dead captain, who resided in-New Zealand, came on the scene and disputed the will. He produced one made by his nude years ago, wherein he is the sole heir. Wilson alleges the case is set down for hearing in Wellington next Thursday. The woman, the two arrestees, and the woman who witnessed the will should have sailed to New Zealand last Tuesday. The money for ' their passages was the .£4O in connection with which if e arrests were made, it being advanced by Wilson, who was shown the will as a guarantee of re-payment. The woman, however, took ill, and during her illness confessed that the will was a forgery, further alleging that the arrestees were aware of the facts. Wilson obtained a confession in writing and handed it to the police.
