Chinese of Wellington.
10 THE EDITOR OP TUB ItiNAWiTtf HERALD.
Sir, —May I, through your coluifltis, plead for our neighbours ? Events of late have drawn fresh attention to the Chinese living amongst us; and I am sure that much interest and pity for them have been aroused. An opportunity is presented of making thdf sympathy practical. The Mission to the Chinese in the city of Wellington has made such progress that the Chinamen—Christians and heathens — are making efforts to build themselves a church in which to worship. At the services of intercession for Foreign Missions' which are being held this week throughout the Diocese of Wellington, alms are asked to strengthen this mission. At all Saints, Foxton, on St. Andrew’s Day (Thursday), the alms for this purpose amounted to seven shillings and seven pence. lam sure there are many amongst us who have very kindly feelings towards the kindly and industrious Chinese. I believe many would like to share in giving them the important help they need. I shall be glad to receive and forward any additional gifts, however small. They should be sent to me by next Thursday. Yours, etc., H. F. Wilson.
