Chamber of Commerce.

The monthly meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday evening, and attended bv Messrs P. Hennessy (chairman), F, W. Frankland, C. Barnard, G. Stiles, and R. Moore.

Correspondence with the Railway Department, in which the Department declined to make the requested improvements to the Foxton-Palmers-ton line, and with Mr Vile, M.H.R., in reference to the statement ot receipts and expenditure of the Foxton wharf was read and considered. A statement for the period from 1901 to 1905 received from Wellington in reference to the Foxton Wharf was submitted, showing a substantial increase in the revenue during that period, and a surplus for the five years of about £1563. The chairman pointed out that the statement gave no credit for receipts from the sale ot gravel.

Mr Frankland mentioned that Mr Vile at his public meeting bad agreed to support the various schemes submitted by the Chamber. It was arranged that the quarterly general meeting for December be held on the iSth of next month in the Masonic Hall when the President would address the members on the results of the quarter’s work.
