Cricket.
The match for the local Premiership between the Foxton C.C. and Moutoa C.C. was played in the Park last Saturday resulting ia an easy win for the first named Club by 44 runs on the first innings. Foxton went in first, and the start was not auspicious but by steady batting, Shaw and Martin, each contributing 12, put together a total of 66. -Moutoa made a feeble reply of 22 the bowling of Alex Morgan being too deadly for them. Foxton in their second essay fairly collared Moutoa’s bowling scoring 72 for the loss ®f 5 wickets when the Captain declared the innings closed. Shaw again played admirably for 33 not out, and Furrie by neat play put together 27. Moutoa in their second venture made 38 for the loss of 9 wickets when time was called. The catching on both sides was very fair, Morgan bowled very well, taking 14 wickets for 17 runs. Messrs Reade and Osboldstone satisfactorily discharged the duties of umpire. The selection committee of the Foxton C.C. have selected the following players to represent the Club in the match to be played against the Debating Club to-morrow (Wednesday): —Furrie (Captain), K, Furrie, F. Shadbolt, Frank Shadbolt, Bert Shadbolt, N. Shaw, A Imrie, Alex Morgan, Cunningham, F. D. Whibley. Emergencies : Overend and Nye. The following team will represent Debaters against Foxton to-morrow : —Messrs Stiles (captain), Whitehouse, Betty, Dunn, Spelman, Reeves, Main waring, Wilson, Barnard, Moore, Huse. Emergency: Featherston. The play will start at x. 30 and the players of both clubs are requested to be punctual, also to wear cricket or tennis shoes, not hobnails. The latter are not calculated to improve the pitch. Messrs Reade and Wilson take office of unpires.
